Child and youth workers. 2.

A typical day in this job field would be getting to work earlier than your expected time to start, getting ready to take the youth for their daily recreation time. After rec. time it is usually dinner time, after dinner somebodies getting things ready for workshop or "group". Although not every evening is a workshop, you bring the youth swimming/activity or an AA/NA meeting to participate in. You have to be ready to expect harsh/unexpected behavior from some of the patients, A lot of people that go to Youth treatment programs go because it is mandatory for them, Although not in all cases. Reasons why you have to be patient as a worker is because it takes awhile for the youth to adjust to the life in the program. A lot of past issues may be let go of or expressed during their time in the facility, So it is important to let them know they can trust you and that you will listen. There are 3 different shifts a worker can apply for: Day Staff (7am-3pm), Evening Staff (3-11pm), and Night Staff (11pm-7am), and then theres Full time Weekend staff from FridayA typical day in this job field would be getting to work earlier than your expected time to start, getting ready to take the youth for their daily recreation time. Child and Youth Workers .1.

In different treatment programs there are different services available, in most Youth treatment facilities there is Recreation time required to participate in, that includes exercise, sports, walking, etc. There is usually schooling expected to be attending for the duration you are there. ~

Workers are expected to understand, be PATIENT, outgoing, trusting etc. There are many qualifications and traits needed to work with these youth. Addiction is a whole other topic in itself; it is a very hard struggle to conquer. This is why they need the right kind of people to be working with them,
The reason why I am interested in this field of work is because I understand what has to be done on a daily basis, and I know from experience of being in a facility myself. I love helping people, and being able to help with one of my greatest struggles would help them including myself.
