How to become a Professional

Depending on the job you are seeking.
- For a youth treatment facilitator they were usually looking for people who are qualified to be a counselor from Entry level (coach) to senior counselors (delivering program.)
you are usually asked to have previous child care experience, Depending on the area you want to work in there are different qualifications, in treatment centers you have to learn to how help the youth 'cope' with whatever it is their struggling with.
Probations periods are usually required, the employers need to know you have desire to work with the youth seeing as you work with them daily you should show some sort of a personal interest in them. You have to have a respect and openness with them, so that they will trust you (but there are still boundaries). You are expected to have communication skill (if you want to work with people), but also being sensitive to whatever it is their overcoming.
-a high school diploma, completion of a community college or university program in child and youth care is required.
-experience working with children either as a volunteer or in a summer or part-time job is very valuable.
-other useful skills include first aid and CPR training
Other related careers:
-a children's nurse, private household
-day-care worker, infants
-developmental service worker
-mental health worker
-social worker, group

  1. I can only imagine that the training for this profession is pretty extensive as the work they do is very important to the well-being of a child and therefore effects that child his/her whole life. It looks too that if this is a field someone is interested in htat thtey should go out and seek some volunteer experience to make sure that working with youth is something they are suited to and will enjoy.
